Blog Probs

Does anyone have trouble logging into their blog from home? Is there something I should know? Am I doing anything wrong? Is anyone reading this?

Wiki Success

I have now set up a 'writeboard', and there is clearly potential for using this with students. Being an open forum, others can add/edit entries in one central place, which has clear advantages over email or paper copies. There is the danger of sabotage, but I feel that if the content is relevant, useful, and collaborative, students are likely to give it due respect.
The downside with this particular format is that I really wanted to add a table, but it seems this was not a possible option with this version of a wiki. It would also be beneficial if contributors could add in different colours, but I was unable to do this using 'writeboard'.
I have also explored bluwiki and had a few teething troubles at first. After looking at some others - pbwiki etc - it is clear I need to spend more time investigating the pros and cons of each before I select one to set up with my students.

The Wonderful World of Wikipedia

Having now spent a bit of time looking at Wikipedia I feel a little more up to date with the 21st century. The links to quotes, dictionaries etc are very useful, and I am grateful to all those who have the time and inclination to contribute. It is not something I could realistically see myself doing. However, I am continuing to explore smaller scale wikis and think they might be quite useful here in ITE.

Wicked wikis

I'm about to embark on learning about wikis. I'm hoping it will be a useful tool to use with students so optimism is running high... Any helpful guidance/useful advice greatfully received.
I'll report back on progress later.

Slowly blogging-along

Having read a few other people's blogs I'm now waiting eagerly for someone to notice mine. It's an interesting process - rather like on-line dating I expect. In fact, Lindsay seems to be having similar thoughts on her blog.

I am finding it difficult to think of interesting things to add - well, things others might find interesting. I am told that I have a tendency to whitter (so this could in fact be a good opportunity!). Although this whole idea of creating a blog seemed straight forward a few minutes ago when I started I now fear this picture is going to sum up my progress so far...

Thursday 19th February

What a week! All good intentions of setting up this blog on Monday went completely to pot. One thing after another seems to have come along and used up my free time.
At least, now I've got here, the process of setting up a blog seems straightforward enough - and I'm cheered up by the fact there is a pink template! (Sorry if the garish background offends fellow bloggers.)
